Daaimah s poole biography of william hill
One thing I really appreciated about this book was how the author seemed to say and show exactly what was needed. All in all, I recommend anyone give this book a try. The story is good, fast, and suspenseful a lot of the time. Something is always happening. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I am not a young black woman, but could still enjoy reading about the ups and downs of Nikki, who struggles with life father who she never knew dies, contractor's scam forces her to move back in with momlove sneaking around with a married man, then meets handsome stranger who seems too good to be trueand work hotel management in Philadelphia.
It seemed real enough until a twist at the end made me go, "Oh, come on. The book jacket confused me by mentioning her friend "Kia" who was actually "Tia. I received this book as part of early reviewers. It was pretty obvious that this book was written for a certain reader demographic and I do not fit that demographic. However, the storyline did keep me interested although I found that I could not relate to the desperation these women felt.
Their struggle to hang onto the 'best option' and to settle for any type of companionship painted a sad portrait of a single black woman's life. I found this to be a quick read although the blantent lack of correct grammar was irksome to me. See More Reviews. Mary B. Carl Weber. Eric Jerome Dickey. Combine Editions. Poole Average rating: 4.

And although not in the summary Dionne, the ex-girlfriend of a basketball player who wants her cake and to eat it too. I liked Tanisha from the beginning. She was not trying to be a gold digger, as a matter of fact, she really wasn't paying any of the athletes any attention.
That is until Kevin shows up. I was upset that she lied to him, and I thought she was crazy for divorcing her husband, who loved her and took in her first two kids as his own. Then comes the ending. Why would you run and not at least look into reports of what was being said. She stayed gone a year. You mean to tell me this heifer didn't do a google search of her name.
I don't think Kevin will take her back after this. She abandoned ALL of her kids, and her boyfriend.

I did not like Adrienne. She was too desperate for my taste. There is nothing wrong with working for what you have. AND she is a nurse, so she was being paid very well. Then when she gets the baby, she gets greedy. I bet she wished she had taken what the father offered after the courts gave her less. And what kind of friend was she to do that to Tanisha.
She should have been the level headed one in all of that confusion. Adrienne was just really stupid for me. Of all the men, not ONE condom was worn. They could have given her something other than a baby. Then there is Dionne. Dionne was a spoiled, privileged woman that was use to having her way and couldn't understand the word "no". She didn't learn anything.
Complaining that Terrence left her, which she should have known that from the beginning. What did she think was going to happen? I listened to this on audiobook and I thought there would be a story for Tanisha towards the ending of the book, but then it just ended. We didn't get anymore information about Kevin and the kids, nothing. I am hoping there is a part two, however, I doubt it.
This was still an entertaining read. It held my attention and the performers did an excellent job. The performer for Dionne's character, I was really impressed. She gave you spoiled, pampered, little rich, bratty girl and I was able to see the shift from spoiled to savage. Page Turner. I felt like there were a lot of unanswered questions at the end of this book and Tanisha seemed like a real moron in the end.
For one, after a year, I would think she would have kept tabs on what was going on in Philly and known the outcome of the situation she found herself in, in addition to checking up on her kids. I hated what happened with Kevin and there wasn't really any explanation about it in the end either. Overall, it was a decent story, but the unanswered question in the end diminished the read for me.
Shontel S. Good book. The characters are easy to relate to and they speak in normal conversation so they feel like people you already know. I did see part of the ending building up but it was still shocking. If you like Daaimah Poole books then this will not disappoint. I think this was one of her best ones. The story line was very interesting and a lot of intense moments as well.
They only downside was the ending; it was non existent. This book had a really good story line. I enjoyed this series by Daaimah S. All the drama kept me wanting more. All 4 books in the series were good. There was even a character in Book 4 with my same name and I could relate to her. Styles Goodreads Author. Candice Dow. Tu-Shonda L. Whitaker.
